Student Study Abroad Program

Approved by President Lin on October 20, 1999 and Revised on October 2, 2000

I. The Student Exchange Program deepens the academic experience by promoting international academic and cultural exchanges. It works with students to identify the programs that best suit their needs and assist them through the entire process.

II. Students may study at any of the cooperative universities or approved overseas universities and study abroad programs.

III. We encourage students to explore their study abroad options as early as their freshman year. During their first three years of college, aside from fulfilling departmental requirements, students strengthen their language skills in class or through extracurricular activities. In the summer of their junior year, students may decide to embark on their journey and enroll in intensive foreign language classes abroad. Students who choose this option are exempt from their summer internships. Credits earned at the foreign institute are transferable, and can be used in place of Tatung credits. The period of studying abroad is included into the required college years. Tatung University will confer the Bachelor degree to students upon return and will issue a certificate of participation.

IV. Those who participate in the Student Exchange program must register at Tatung University their senior year but are not required to pay miscellaneous fees. All expenses, including but not limited to travel and living expenses and summer language course tuition, are paid by the participants.

V. To encourage students to pursue a masters or doctoral degree either abroad or in Taiwan, we offer scholarships for qualified students.

VI. Masters and doctoral students are also eligible for this Program. In addition to providing an international perspective, studying abroad can add a professional dimension to one's studies.

VII. If there are any discrepancies between our study abroad policies and the study abroad policies of approved schools, we will abide in the latter.

VIII. The above regulations or subsequent revisions of the regulations will be implemented once they have been approved by the administration.
